Acting
1 - The Instrument
Wednesday 7pm-10.30pm
- code-C ... (3.5 hour class)
(32 Hours for one term)
In the same way that a pianist
has his instrument - "The Piano" - an actor also
has his instrument. The Actor's instrument is his BODY. Within
the BODY lie the actor's 'tools' which he /she utilises
in the effort to create the life of a human being
- a "Character".What are the actor's "tools"? The
actor's tools are his WILL, IMAGINATION and his EMOTIONS. These elements
are the foundation of the actor's craft. Through a
methodical practice of specific "exercises" these elements
are developed and strengthened as they eventually lead
to the awakening of the creative capacities within the actor.
Acting
2 - The Character
Monday 7pm - 11pm -
code A ... (4 hour class) (40 Hours for
one term)
Tuesday 7pm - 11pm -
code-B ... (4 hour class) (40
Hours for one term)
At the discretion of the tutor the student
progresses from ACTING 1 to ACTING 2.In this "advanced"
class the focus is on the "analysis" of the scripted scene. The actor
is encouraged to utilise his creative capacities to interpret
and discover the realities of the scene. In doing so
he /she is able to move toward the creation of the stage
"CHARACTER". Peter will then direct each scene with the aim
of raising it to "performance level". The student will then perform
the scene for the "End of Term Performance Night" to
be held on the last night of the school term in front
of an invited audience.
Acting for the Camera
Saturday 1.30pm - 5pm -
code D ... (3.5 hour class) (32 Hours for one term)
Acting for The Camera requires specific
skills which differ from acting for the stage. Peter will utilise
his many years of practical experience in this field to impart
valuable information to the student. The student will
perform actual Film/TV scenes which will subsequently
be "played back" on a TV monitor. The student in this way has
the opportunity to see 'first hand' the results of his/her work.
Discussion and feed back will be given on the students
progress and ability to take directon.
